Swimming 10K in May to Raise Money for Cancer Research UK

This May, Maarten is taking on a personal challenge — swimming 10 kilometres throughout the month to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. The goal is to raise £450 for life-saving cancer research, and every donation makes a real difference.
Why This Challenge Matters
Swimming has always been a huge part of Maarten’s life from a very young age. Many mornings and evenings were spent at the local swimming pool, building a lifelong love for the water and staying active.
Recently, both his mother-in-law and father-in-law have faced difficult battles with cancer. Like so many families across the UK, cancer has had a very real and personal impact.
That’s what makes this challenge so important.
"Combining a passion for swimming with the opportunity to support an incredible charity felt like the perfect way to give something back and hopefully help fund the next breakthrough in cancer research." he said passionately.
The Challenge – 10K in the Pool
The mission is simple:
- Swim 10 kilometres during May
- Raise £450 for cancer research
- Encourage awareness and support for families affected by cancer
The swims are taking place at the local You Fit Health Club Colchester in Eight Ash Green, and supporters are very welcome to come along and cheer from the sidelines.
Whether it’s an early morning session or a late evening swim after work, every length completed is another step towards helping fund vital research.
